To safeguard Australians from the perils of illicit wagering, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is taking strict action against websites violating the law. They are collaborating with internet service providers to restrict access to these suspicious sites and halt unlawful online casinos and betting activities.
These prohibited activities encompass offerings like online casino games or slot machines not permitted in Australia, operating gambling websites without a valid Australian license, and promoting these dubious services to Australians.
Numerous websites, including Jogi Casino, Dundee Slots, and others, have been placed on the prohibited list. Since 2019, the ACMA has blocked nearly a thousand of these illicit gambling websites and their associated parties. They have also been diligently working to shut down over 220 illegal gambling operations, even during major events like the Women’s World Cup.
In essence, the ACMA is dedicated to protecting Australians from risky gambling websites.
In March of this year, the Australian regulatory body responsible for communications and media (ACMA) gave notices to a number of internet-based gaming providers discovered to be breaking the 2001 Interactive Gambling Act. These providers, some well-known and others less so, were discovered to be making available prohibited gaming options to Australian citizens.
