Chapter 26: Stuart Hunter Offers a Glimpse into ICE 2024
This is the final ICE to be held in London, but despite the 2025 event relocating to Barcelona, Hunter informed Brendan Bussmann and Brent Aiden that he is keen to ensure that this does not impact this year’s gathering.
He explained that this is a method to maintain the momentum from the 2023 edition. That was the largest ever, but ICE 2024 is prepared to imitate last year’s event in terms of exhibitors, displays, and agreements made.
Education at ICE
The ICE week commences with the ICE VOX conference, including the World Regulatory Briefing and the International Casino Conference. This will unite leading operators, key regulators, and companies from outside the industry, including Netflix.
Hunter stated that the production team has invested a great deal of effort in assembling the agenda, which covers key topics in the industry. There will be sessions on AI, safe gambling, and cybersecurity, but in a manner that sparks proper discussion.
Hunter is particularly looking forward to hearing from keynote speaker Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts International.
It was a joy collaborating with the MGM crew. They were thrilled to be at ICE and share their expertise, and I know Bill was as well.

ICE is closing the gap between Europe and the United States. Brandon says it offers new regulatory markets in North America a chance to learn from more established areas. But how has this altered the exhibition space?
Hunter says the event has expanded significantly, covering over a million square feet at ExCeL London, with about 650 brands from every part of the sector. There will be attendees from over 150 nations, but this means the Clarion Gaming team has had to carefully select what’s on the exhibition floor to reflect the industry’s requirements.
Hunter says each event has to determine what people are seeking and match that with what potential exhibitors need. It’s like putting together a shop.
The path to ICE Barcelona
ICE 2024 will be the final one in London. After considering all the options for the future, they decided to relocate to Barcelona next year.
This is a fantastic opportunity—they’re looking for a location for the next five to ten years, so the event can continue to grow.
Barcelonas fresh location is double the size of London’s ExCeL, giving companies greater adaptability to display their inventiveness at the exhibition.
“This will propel ICE to a new stage, just as it did when it transitioned from Earls Court to ExCeL,” stated Hunter. “A fresh platform, a new progression, new expansion, much enthusiasm, numerous opportunities, this is the next phase commencing in 2025.”
