The Vietnamese administration plans to pick football games that the public can wager on, as per a new proposition that would partially legitimize sports betting.
The Ministry of Finance is seeking official approval for a bill that would permit betting, establishing a cap of 1 million Vietnamese dong ($45) per individual per day.
The proposition is anticipated to be presented to the government by the end of this month, according to Tuoi Tre newspaper.
The proposition would permit adults to wager on a variety of international football matches, which would be determined by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. A bill drafted in 2010 also provided for betting on domestic matches.
Nguyen Hoang Hai, vice chairman of the Vietnam Financial Investors Association, expressed dissatisfaction with the proposed daily cap in Tuoi Tre newspaper.
“No one will place bets within the limit of 1 million dong per day. Or they will have others place bets for them,” he stated.
“Gambling should either be prohibited or legalized. But it shouldn’t be partially allowed like this.”
Vietnam is contemplating permitting its inhabitants to participate in gambling.
